How to properly Lace to wear Corsets?
Unlike the shoe strings where the strings meet from either of the ends, the strings in the corset have to meet in the middle of the corset, at your waist level. Corsets are fastened with two sets of laces. Firstly, you have to make sure that the strings of the corset meet in the center as it looks better that way and the string-pressure is also equally distributed which avoids rupture.
Start the lacing from the top-most hole. Hold the right string and pull it over to the other side. After completing the right side, do the left in the same way, and create a X. You must keep the laces even so that you can easily pull the laces through the holes. Keep up the lacing till you reach the center. Repeat the same process with the other string but this time start in the middle to complete the lower section of the corset.
Things to keep in mind when wear Corsets
If you do not have someone to assist you, take the help of a mirror. After wearing an under layer which can be a shirt, a tube top or a corset liner, hold the corset in a correct alignment. The lace part should be facing backwards. Leaving a gap of roughly 6 to 7 inches is a good idea between both sides of the corset as it makes it easier to put on the corset.
Wrap the corset around you to close the loops in the front. You may be needed to slightly pull the sides a bit but do not apply too much pressure to get it together. Fasten the knobs or the loops in the front. You should start with the second or third from the top ideally. This will give you a little more convenience to fix the top most or the top two knobs. As you reach the bottom, you would have had closed all the knobs. Check in mirror if one of them has been left out, and rework.
When you are done with closing all the knobs, finally you can tie the laces of the corset on the back into a bow or a knot and get going!
